Carol Platt Proudfoot, Soprano

Carol Platt Proudfoot is a member of the voice faculty at both Glendale and Scottsdale Community Colleges in the Phoenix area. Her position at both schools includes teaching private voice lessons as well as studio performance class for singers. Students from her studio have been accepted into music programs at universities such as Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, California State University-Los Angeles, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Arizona, and the University of California-Los Angeles. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and served as Treasurer of the local chapter for 2 years. In addition, Carol has taught many students who have both participated and placed in the annual NATS Classical Auditions. Along with teaching, she also enjoys performing, most recently with internationally renowned conductor Helmuth Rilling, in the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus in Eugene, OR. She is in her seventh year as a member of the Phoenix Bach Choir, and for 3 seasons was a chorister in the Santa Fe Desert Chorale in Santa Fe, NM, working with Dr. Dennis Shrock, former Artistic Director. As a soloist, Carol has sung in recital in South Dakota, Oklahoma, and Arizona. In 2000, she was blessed to have the opportunity to perform as a soloist and chorister in Sydney, Australia. Currently, she is singing with the American Bach Cantata series in Phoenix, and also performs in churches throughout the valley. For over 10 years, Carol has studied voice with Ms. Claudia H. Kennedy, her teacher and mentor, and continues to specialize in French
mélodie. She holds a master of music degree in vocal performance from Arizona State University, and a bachelor of music degree from the University of Oklahoma.
