Carol Platt Jennings, Soprano
Carol Platt Jennings, Soprano, is a member of the voice faculty at both Glendale and Scottsdale Community Colleges in the Phoenix metro area. Her position at both schools includes teaching private voice lessons as well as studio performance class for singers. In addition, she has recently accepted a faculty position in voice at Grand Canyon University. Students from her studio have been accepted into music programs at universities such as Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, McGill University, California State University-Los Angeles, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Arizona, and the University of California-Los Angeles. She is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and served as Treasurer of the local chapter for 2 years. In addition, Carol has taught many students who have both participated and placed in the annual NATS Classical Auditions. Along with teaching, she also enjoys performing. She is in her tenth year as a member of the Grammy Award winning Phoenix Chorale with Artistic Director Charles Bruffy, and was recently honored to sing in Incheon, South Korea with the Chorale's sister choir, the Kansas City Chorale. Carol has sung under internationally renowned conductor Helmuth Rilling in the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus in Eugene, OR, and for 3 seasons was a chorister in the Santa Fe Desert Chorale in Santa Fe, NM, working with Dr. Dennis Shrock, former Artistic Director. As a soloist, she has sung in recital in South Dakota, Oklahoma, and Arizona. In 2000, she was blessed to have the opportunity to perform as a soloist and chorister in Sydney, Australia. For over 10 years, Carol has studied voice with Ms. Claudia Kennedy, her teacher and mentor, and continues to specialize in French Melodie. She holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Oklahoma.
