Sara Fraker, Oboe

Sara Fraker has played oboe and English horn in the Tucson Symphony Orchestra since 2005. She has performed in music festivals at Tanglewood, Aspen, Chautauqua, Spoleto Festival USA, and Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. The Boston Globe has praised her "aristocratic oboe playing." Sara is a founding member of the Paloma Winds, which enjoys a chamber music residency in Greer, Arizona, every summer. With the Paloma Winds, she has presented recitals throughout Southern Arizona, and appeared at the 2010 Conference of the International Double Reed Society. Sara has performed with the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, the St. Andrews Bach Society, and Arizona Opera. Sara teaches private oboe students and also works as a Teaching Artist in the Opening Minds Through the Arts (OMA) Program. A graduate of New England Conservatory (MM) and Swarthmore College (BA), Sara earned the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2009. She has authored a dissertation titled, "The Oboe Works of Isang Yun."
