Cindy Behmer, Oboe

Oboist and English hornist Cindy Behmer is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at the University of Arizona and recently earned ABD status.

Originally from Sacramento, California, her primary teacher has been Dr. Neil Tatman with whom she has completed both her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree. Ms. Behmer has also pursued additional study with Thomas Stacy, Carolyn Hove, and Lindabeth Binkley.

Outside of the University setting, Ms. Behmer enjoys performing as a regular assisting oboist and English hornist in the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and Tucson Pops Orchestra. Additionally, she performs regularly with chamber ensembles such as the Tucson Chamber Artists, St. AndrewÕs Bach Society, Tucson Masterworks Chorale and is a member of the Bella Carita Trio d'Anche and the kontra-cor duo.

In December of 2009, Ms. Behmer was invited to join the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra as principal oboist for a ten day tour of China. Included in the tour were 6 concerts given in 5 cities (includingDalian, Shenzhen, and Beijing) in top-rated beautiful venues. In 2010 Ms. Behmer was invited to play oboe and solo English horn with the Music in the Mountains SpringFest and SummerFest music festivals in Grass Valley, California.

Ms. Behmer maintains a large private oboe studio ranging in levels from beginner to young advanced to adult amateur oboist. Her students hold recurring positions with Regional and All-State honor bands and orchestra, are members of the Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra, and perform in the annual Behmer Oboe Studio Recital.
